Origins Collection

In his debut range James B. Young has drawn on his experience as a camel saddler and leather craftsman to create four unique designs. Each bag is hand produced by James in his Alice Springs workshop and is available in limited numbers.

James draws on the heritage of Australian style defined by austerity of materials and pared back decoration. Born from necessity it invokes durability and purity. James B. Young's bags are true to this tradition and are contemporary classics in their own right.

Outliers Collection

In his second collection James B. Young delivers three new limited edition styles inspired by central desert architecture and executed utilising kangaroo leather and desert timbers.

The early pastoral outbuildings in the Central Desert region were often sturdy, appropriate and made from raw materials closest to hand. Deep roof cavities formed voids to draw in cool air. Architectural silhouettes that leant in on themselves, a result of maximum strength from minimum timber. The line of the verandah sits so low the entrant must stoop to pass beneath the horizontal beam.

It is through this lens and studies in craftsmanship James B. Young delivers his second bag range. Three timeless pieces that bring together his skills as a shoemaker and fine artisan with his reflections on the ecology, heritage and traditions of Central Australia.
